Dive into new world

HOW much have things changed when something like deep sea diving is safer than crossing the road?

That's certainly the case at Kirra Dive.

Becoming a scuba diver opens enormous possibilities, not just in terms of adventure and discovery, but on a social level also.

Bianca Brouwer is a master diver at Kirra Dive.

"I love diving," she said.

"I started snorkelling a while back and realised I wanted to stay under for longer.

"It's a whole new world under the water.

"I started diving in 2006 and haven't looked back.

"It keeps me really fit and I've made heaps of friends.

"Divers are cool people."

Bianca joins anywhere between 20 and 30 divers each weekend for dives in a variety of locations including Moreton Bay, Stradbroke Island, Vanuatu and the Solomons.

"It's a very exciting pastime," Bianca said.

"We belong to the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), the world's largest recreational diving membership and Gold Coast diver training organisation."

PADI courses are performance-based dive programs, and emphasise practical knowledge, safety and motor skills.

"With our five-star Gold Coast dive centre facilities and highly experienced staff, Kirra Dive will help you'll obtain the confidence and qualifications that are recognised worldwide," Bianca said.

Kirra Dive offers overseas trips, local dive and snorkel trips to Cook Island, dive courses, specialty courses, tank refills, gear servicing and gear sales. Join the Zero to Hero Program and become a PADI professional dive master and instructor.

Most courses are offered on a weekly basis.

"We do club shore dives every weekend with a barbecue lunch and all divers are welcome," Bianca said.

"It's a nice quick dive and an easy way for divers to socialise."
