Dogs sniff out drugs in Coast mum's home

A MOTHER of three has been caught producing drugs to feed her own habit.

When police searched the Woombye home of Jemma Christina Sankey, 30, in September, dogs sniffed out 13 marijuana plants - between 5-20cms tall - in a shipping container.

Sankey told officers they had been planted one month ago and she added fertiliser to help them grow.

After the incident she was required to attend the police station in seven days to show her ID, but failed to do so until 10 days later.

She pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court yesterday to single counts of producing dangerous drugs and contravening a police direction.

The court heard the drugs were for personal use only and there was no commercial element alleged by police.

She was fined a total of $1000 with convictions recorded.
