Driver caught 71kmh over the speed limit
A MAN was clocked going more than double the speed limit in a bid to outrun his driving curfew.
Richard Paul Mcquillan-Martin pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday to driving over the speed limit.
The court heard earlier this month Richard Paul Mcquillan-Martin was apprehended by police on Fitzroy St, Rockhampton after he was clocked at 131km/h in a 60km/h zone.
The defendant told the court he was in a rush to get home due to a curfew restriction on his licence which prohibits him from driving between 11pm and 5am.
Mcquillan-Martin was ordered to pay a $1137 fine for speeding and a $400 fine for driving outside his curfew restriction.
In one of the worst speeding cases in Central Queensland in March this year Aaron David Cook led police on a high speed chase through Central Queensland reaching speeds of 192km/h while under the influence of ice.
He was sentenced to 21 months in jail.
