Shoe flinging is popular in Newtown.
A NEWTOWN resident has hit out at the actions of people who are taking to throwing pairs of boots over power lines in the suburb.
David Fredericks says they are wasting Ergon Energy's time and resources.
The practice is known as shoe flinging or "shoefiti".
It involves throwing shoes whose shoelaces have been tied together so that they hang from overhead wires such as power lines or telephone cables.
Shoes hanging from power lines suggests:
- Drug dealer nearby
- Time-honored tradition on the last day of school.
- A reminder/warning of a nearby murder.
- Designated gang turf
