LSD and cannabis were a ‘care package’ from a friend

A HERVEY Bay man told police the cannabis and LSD he had in his car was a "care package" he had received from a friend, a court heard.

Dale Adamaszek pleaded guilty in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court to two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Donna Sperling said police stopped Adamaszek about 10.40pm on January 14 and conducted a roadside search.

She said Adamaszek pointed police to a toiletry bag on the back seat where police found a total of 19g of cannabis.

The court heard during the search police also found a white vitamin bottle which contained 17 LSD tablets and a small amount of cannabis.

"He said he had been given the drugs as a care package when he visited a friend," Snr Const Sperling said.

Defence lawyer John Milburn said Adamaszek was currently undergoing rehabilitation at Bayside Transformations and realised he needed to combat his drug problem.

"My client is working diligently and they would like him to complete the rehabilitation program."

Mr Milburn said the drugs were for personal use.

Magistrate Graham Hillan fined Adamaszek $1200.
