Duo second but have it in the bag

THE second team at the ABT Zerek Barra Tour at Lake Proserpine on Friday and Saturday night considered the weekend's fishing at the dam to be the best there has been all year.

Karim De Ridder and Graig Griffiths placed behind team South Burnett Directions at the third round of the ABT Tour but won the first round at Kinchant Dam and the round two at Teemburra Dam and now have an unassailable lead entering into round four which began on Monday night.

They both described a perfect combination of no rain, a big moon and northerly winds on the dam.

"You get a steady weather pattern that builds up and you get good fishing.

"As soon as the south- easterlies come through it shuts it down a little bit,” De Ridder said.

Both De Ridder and Griffiths have enjoyed a good pre-fish at the dam and also did well at the invitational tournament hosted by the Lake Proserpine Restocking Association last month.

They attribute their success this year to practise and having a good knowledge of the dam.

"You get confident when you do it for so long, you know what works and what doesn't,” De Ridder said.
