Body building duo’s stunning debut
HERVEY Bay duo Faan Jaemsaidee and Natalie Jacobsen did not expect to blow away the INBA Brisbane Classic field in their first competition.
But that is what they, and fellow Fraser Coast bodybuilders Amy Turner and Matt Bogart, did at the Sleeman Sports Complex in Brisbane last week.
Jaemsaidee was particularly impressive, winning two bikini categories - first timers and 21-and-under - as well as securing a third and fourth placings.
Turner won the fitness novice category and bagged an extra second and fourth, while Jacobsen took home a third and fourth.
"I've always been into fitness and I've always wanted to be the best I can be," Jaemsaidee said.
"Natalie was actually the reason I entered."
Jacobsen was also enticed into competing by another friend.
"Katie Stevens competed for a few years and I've always been interested," Jacobsen said.
"I just wanted to give it a go, but it was a way to get the body I've never had but wanted."
Jacobsen started training about 20 weeks out from the competition, while Coffee Central barista Jaemsaidee had about 11 weeks prep.
On top of a strict diet the pair frequented the gym for weight sessions six times a week.
Add several cardio sessions, study, and their day jobs to the schedule and it didn't leave too much time for other activities.
"I've got a lot of energy and am motivated so I just go, go, go," Jacobsen said.
"I'm very happy. It was unexpected being our first competition."
