Early morning scuba tank swim lands teen in court
STAGGERING, shirtless and wet, it was clear to police a teenager's early morning dip had been somewhere off limits to the public.
The 18-year-old had climbed into a scuba diving training tank at The Wharf, Mooloolaba about 2.35am on June 21, Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard yesterday.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Amanda Brewer said the teen told officers he would have a swim.
Snr Const Brewer said the teen was unsteady on his feet and affected by alcohol when speaking with police.
The teen, who represented himself on the charge of unregulated high-risk activities, told Magistrate Hennessy he was working and also studying at university.
"Obviously this sort of provision is to prevent people doing things that are risky," Ms Hennessy said.
She fined the youth $300.
