Easter races to pack a punch
THE FAMOUS Bowen Races returns for Easter this Saturday.
Once a must-do on the social calendar, Bowen's Easter Races have only made a comeback in the last four years.
Races co-ordinator and Bowen Turf Club president Cyril Vains said Bowen is famed for its quality country racing.
"Bowen has a reputation for having a very strong race field and is one the largest tracks in country Queensland," he said.
"They'll be horses from all over the hill - coming from Mackay, Charters Towers, Bowen and Ingham."
The Bowen Easter Races are a family orientated event for those chasing something different this weekend.
"It's a great day out - the ladies dress up of course, the kids run amok, fun is had all day round," Mr Vains said.
Gates open at 11am and the first of five races kicks off at 1.40pm.
Food, drinks, TABS and book makers will all be available on site. The best part about this event is that entry is free.
