Employees honoured for their work
A TOTAL of 21 Whitsunday employees were recognised for their hard work and dedication at the Rotary Club of Airlie Beach's Pride of Workmanship Awards last Wednesday night.
Pride of Workmanship is an initiative of Rotary and the awards were presented at a special function at the Reef Gateway Hotel in Cannonvale.
Fourteen businesses and organisations were represented on the night with nominees presented with a trophy and certificate in recognition for their efforts.
They were judged on three main criteria that included their leadership and commitment to their job, their attitude to their role and how it was that they excelled and gave over and above what was required of them.
Pride of Workmanship Awards was started 36 years ago by the Rotary Club of Pennant Hills in NSW to allow managers to publicly recognise their employees for their hard work.
Rotary president Allan Robinson said each awardee was a winner in their own right.
Guest speaker on the night and past Rotary president Mike Storkey said there had never been a better time to recognise a job well done.
"The awards recognise those who have done something above and beyond expectations and show their family, workplace colleagues and community they take pride in their workplace," he said.
"It also allows Rotary to be involved in the business part of the community."
