English woman missing in Alice Springs

THERE is growing concern for a 62-year-old English woman who has been reported missing in Alice Springs.

According to UK newspaper the Derby Telegraph (Derby Telegraph) Derbyshire police are searching for Anne Collinson, who vanished after travelling to Australia.

Miss Collinson, from Repton in Derbyshire, was last seen at her home on February 8 and police said they are growing increasingly concerned for the safety of the missing woman as she had not made contact with family or friends.

They have asked people with friends and family in Australia to share their appeal on Facebook in the hope of getting a message to Miss Collinson or information about her whereabouts.

The newspaper reports that it is thought she caught a plane from Heathrow airport to Australia and is believed to be in Alice Springs.

Her neighbour Zoe Storey said she gave a statement to the police and gave them access to Miss Collinson's house. She said they have been back a number of times looking for information and clues.

She said: "I was really surprised when the police told me they had traced Anne to Australia, because she has never discussed any travel with me before.

"I have been told they have traced her MasterCard to an Australian hotel but she has since disappeared. I have left voicemail messages on her phone, sent her texts and e-mail, asking her to let me know she is okay."
