Epic Darren wows crowds
THE crowd was left in awe when stunt man Epic Darren jumped on his motorbike and performed some of his toughest acts at Show Whitsunday this afternoon.
Before putting on his main show, Epic Darren invited one lucky audience member to assist him in his first performance.
Bringing a young girl into the 'square of death', Epic Darren circled her on his bike while she attempted to throw three rings onto some sticks stuck to his helmet.
The performance resembled a more 'epic' version of ring toss.
Alas for Epic Darren, she was successful, winning him a 'trading card'.
Then it was on to the more intense stunts.
Epic Darren 'wow'd' audiences with his most famous world record performance, using a broken tennis racket for a prop.
How could a broken tennis racket be a part of a world record performance, you ask?
Epic Darren squeezed his entire body through the whole of the racket, but wait, it gets better.
He did it while riding his motorbike.
The stuntman made it look fairly simple but it definitely wasn't an easy trick to master.
"It took me about four months to train myself to fit through the racket," he said.
"It took another 12 months for me to learn how to do it on a bike."
The performance ended with a nail biting stunt as Epic Darren ride his bike over a 'wall of fire'.
With the assistance of his wife, he successfully made it up the ramp and over the wall, landing smoothly to a round of applause and cheers from the mesmerised crowd.
The adrenaline junkie added some of his own comedic commentary to the show, scoring plenty of laughs.
"I like clowning around and being funny so it's good to be able to include that in the show," he said.
Epic Darren is touring around Australia with his wife and three kids in their caravan.
You can see him again at Show Whitsunday at 6pm tonight and 12.30pm tomorrow.
