Event needs family fun

IT IS only 139 days until this year's Whitsunday Reef Festival kicks off.

Celebrating its 10th year in 2010, the festival committee is as enthusiastic as ever about the upcoming events.

But at this stage, no co-ordinator has been found for the family fun day.

Chairperson Jeff Aquilina said the family fun day was a huge success in 2009 and the committee had hoped to build on that this year.

“The day on the foreshore is full of good old-fashioned fun, a showcase of young talent, yummy foods, games and competitions,” Mr Aquilina said.

“However, we are yet to find a co-ordinator for the event for this year, so we are calling on the local community to get involved.

“There is plenty of support from the other committee members, and a full-time marketing team, so we are just looking for someone who is keen to create a great day for families.”

The committee meets fortnightly and welcomes volunteers at any point.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 14 at Water's Edge Resort. Contact Margie Murphy for more details on 0418 155 542.
