Event of the year
IT'S ON again.
The annual Rotary Club of Proserpine Christmas Fair sponsored this year by Whitsunday Regional Council in partnership with the Whitsunday Lions club will return to Proserpine's Main St next Friday.
Organiser and former president of Proserpine Rotary, Jeff Boyle said considering the year the community has had, he hoped the event gave some much needed Christmas cheer.
"I know the community is feeling it and that's all the more the reason we need people to get out and smile,” he said.
Bigger and better than ever with double the rides at either end of the street, the Rotary Club has subsided kids costs leaving it just $2 for a ride.
Stacked between Mill St and Chapman St, the main street will be filled with food, stalls, open businesses, a jumping castle and of course the council's fireworks display.
Santa will make an appearance with his usual big entrance and the Rotary ham wheel will be spinning.
Last year the event attracted about 1,000 people - a number Mr Boyle would like to see repeated.
"Hopefully the fair will give the local shops some visitors, it's the perfect opportunity to look for Christmas presents,” Mr Boyle said.
About 20 stalls have been booked so far for $10 a spot and there is room for plenty more. To book a stall phone Jeff 0439730790.
