AUSSIE RULES: Last year's premiers face this year's competition front runners in an explosive round of footy this weekend.

Whitsunday Sea Eagles coach Luke Sommerville knows just how badly the Mackay City Hawks will want to bounce back from their loss against Bakers Creek Tigers last weekend.

"They will be keen to get back in the winners circle, especially on their home ground,” he said.

"We'll be focussing on pressuring them into making mistakes, using the ball and hitting our targets.”

It has been a long time since the Hawks have lost two games in a row and the Sea Eagles are happy to oblige.

There is one thing both coaches agreed on though, they need to be ready from the first bounce.

"The key to winning this game is our preparation and starting well,” Hawks' coach Owen Battersby said.

The game is on Saturday, 2.55pm at Harrup Park.
