THE Fantastic Whitsunday Aerobics Club ‘Fab Five' put in a sterling performance at the National School Aerobics Championships in Brisbane on the weekend finishing fourth.

Improving on their performance at the state titles held on July 24-25, the team of Sheridan Jones, Brittany Moulding, Samantha Pawsey, Olivia Culley and Chelsea Nicoll jumped a spot to finish first in Queensland in the primary open aerobics division.

This was also improvement on last year, whereby the former school aerobics team finished fifth.

The competition from Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales was tough and the girls performed remarkably well, their coaches Kelly-Anne Alexander and Leanne Knox were extremely proud of them.

Proud Coach Leanne Knox who has worked tirelessly with Co-coach Kelly-Anne Alexander said next year they would aim for one better.

“If we do it again, top three for next year,” she said.

Along with the other young members of the Whitsunday Aerobics Club who competed in the state titles in Brisbane last month, the girls have been working very hard on perfecting their routines this year.

“They obviously worked very hard the last couple of weeks of the season and came through with a great result,” Knox said.

“It was a long season going since February. They peaked at the right time.

“Last year some of their early performances were some of their better, whereas this year they got it together at just the right time.”

Knox said the girls were extremely happy with their routine on the weekend.

“They were all very pleased with themselves and happy with the performance, which is great,” she said.

The girls from the Whitsunday Aerobics Club would like to say a big thank you to their coaches for their hard work and commitment to the teams throughout the year and also to the efforts of the mothers and fathers who along with the girls, look forward to a well earned break from the sport.
