Family fun guaranteed at PCYC this Saturday

THE kids of the Whitsundays are set to get sporty from this weekend with the Whitsunday PCYC Open Day.

This term's timetable has everything on offer from taekwondo to Tiny Tots Jazz.

PCYC branch manager Sergeant John Dickinson said the PCYC's activities were perfect for school age kids because the program was designed on a term by term basis.

It isn't just the littlies who will be striking it lucky this Saturday however with parents given the chance to cast their vote while the kids play.

"It coincides with polling day so parents can vote on one side and sign up their kids on the other," Sgt Dickinson said. If the chance to choose your candidate and keeping the kids from going stir-crazy isn't enough to get you going, the PCYC has a certified crowd pleaser - lunch.

A sausage sizzle will be feeding hungry faces from 9am with the proceeds going to help fund the continued success of the centre.

Sgt Dickinson said the event would not only give kids a taste of their chosen sport but would also allow parents to catch up with the coaches before signing up.

"It gives the parents a chance to meet the coaches and it gives us an idea of numbers," he said.

Sign-up costs vary and are available on the day or by contacting the PCYC.
