Family fun on Airlie foreshore

DO you fancy yourself as a bit of a donut-eating diva or maybe you're more of a slushie-drinking doyen?

You can test your mettle at the Telstra Family Fun Day on Sunday, August 7, when madness and mayhem preside over proceedings on the beautiful Airlie Foreshore with games and competitions for the whole family.

The day starts at 10am and includes a raft of free activities, from the traditional face painting and circus play, to the modern selfie competitions for "today's" kids. There are also "Wacky Races" - including the egg and spoon race, sack race and three-legged race - guaranteed to keep the kids active, plus there are parents' heats as well.

This year's Reef Festival theme is "Finding the Reef", with the many environmental stalls present on Sunday morning forming part of a treasure hunt, so the kids get to learn about the reef in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

There are also bouncy castles, reef arts and crafts, DJ, a BBQ and refreshment stalls.

"The Telstra Family Fun Day is for children of all ages and is a day not to be missed for the whole family," Telstra's Sue Stridiron said.

"And the activities are all free, meaning it is very affordable for families, who we hope will have a great time playing in the fresh air together on our beautiful foreshore."
