Fbook post incites religious violence

RIOTERS have torched 11 Buddhist temples and "at least 30 Buddhist homes" in south-eastern Bangladesh, the India Tribune reported on Monday.

The Tribune wrote that thousands of protestors hit the streets after a Facebook post was rumoured to be "derogatory to Islam".

State paramilitary troops were called in to control the situation in Ramu, after Muslim fundamentalists torched the temples and homes of local Buddhists.

But the Tribune reported state authorities said the supposed Facebook post was fabricated by extremists in order to disrupt the peace and incite violence in Bangladesh.
