Feel anything? Kilcoy funny memes emerge in aftermath

SOME felt a bit of a rumble, others woke surprised by the news, but yes, it did happen.

An earthquake shook Kilcoy last night.

Geoscience Australia stated the 2.8 magnitude tremor happened about 5:30 pm on Thursday afternoon at a depth of 20 kilometres.

It's said the earthquake was caused by the stress of land plates moving north-east clashing with plates from the ocean moving north-west.

Julie from the Exchange Hotel at Kilcoy said the earthquake was the "talk of the town" this morning, mostly because no one realised an earthquake had struck.

"I didn't feel anything," she said.

"Everyone has been chatting about it, but no one really felt anything.

"It was surprising to even hear about. it, but at 2.8 magnitude, that's probably why we never felt it.

"One person said they felt a bang, they thought it was maybe a plane going overhead, but that's it."

We asked Daily Facebok readers what they felt, if anything. And cue the memes.

Cheryl Moana Rasmussen: I did in Blackbutt but just thought it was another truck going down the road but I did think at the time it was strange because I didn't hear a truck.

Kathy Blain: Wouldn't want to have been on the verandah of the kilcoy pub for this.

Kara Main: We didn't feel it here in Kilcoy, but my friend in Toogoolawah sure did!

Jackie Goodridge: I didn't. I swear I'm the only one in Kilcoy who didn't

Pamela McInnarney: 2.8? Unless it was really shallow it wouldn't be enough to rattle a tea cup.

Madeline Fraser: Nope but my cat went mental this afternoon which would explain a bit.

Danielle Whitmore: We lost power around 6.30pm and my dog was acting weird and I live in Maroochydore.

CONFIRMED EARTHQUAKE: Brisbane Valley near Kilcoy magnitude 2.8 @ 5:30pm 25/6/15.Felt by people in about a 50km radius.
