Fete delivers fun for everyone
SMILES and laughter filled the air at Cannonvale State School this morning where the school held their annual fete fundraiser.
Locals were treated to a host of different rides, raffles, games and show bags and of course, plenty of food.
Guests were quick to fill the grounds and P and C President, Mandy Bennett said she was "extremely happy" with the turn-out.
"Everyone seems to be so happy to be here," she said.
"The food is really popular and everyone is loving the market stalls and rides."
Even the construction site, where a prep and grade one building is currently being built, seemed to go unnoticed thanks to stalls and games lining the surrounding walkways.
Division 1 Councillor, Jan Clifford said she was thrilled to be a part of the community event.
"It's wonderful to be here," she said.
"It's an amazing school, they have amazing teachers and the P and C go above and beyond."
Cr Clifford and Mrs Merewyn Wright judged the 'My Teacher on a Plate' competition which kids entered to try their luck at winning 'fete dollars'.
Students were tasked to draw the teacher of their choice onto a paper plate and Cr Clifford said the entries were "wonderful".
Prep student, Zavier Siever won first prize for his depiction of teacher Miss Coleman and won himself a certificate and 10 'fete dollars'.
Ms Bennett said the fete wouldn't have been possible without support from the community.
"Thank you to the community for all the donations," she said.
"A huge thank you to all the volunteers for their time and effort. All the hard work has paid off."
All funds raised from the fete will go towards the Cannonvale State School music and arts department.
