Fifty cars descending on Tonker Raceway

THE CAMS Abell Point Marina Australian Khanacross Championship will be held this Saturday and Sunday.

The event will be hosted by the Whitsunday Sporting Car Club at its Tonker Park Raceway facility on Lascelles Ave, Gunyarra.

Club representative Warren Morton said the event had been 12 months in the planning.

"It is quite a pat on the back for the local club in recognition of their hard work both on and off the track,” he said.

"There are around 50 cars nominated and they have come from all around Australia to compete here at our home facility.

"We would like to thank major sponsors Abell Point Marina and G.J.Gardner Homes for coming on board and making this event possible.”

The event will kick off with a meet and greet while the scrutineering of the vehicles takes place from 4pm Friday, with racing taking place from 8am on both Saturday and Sunday.

Official presentations will take place at Abell Point Marina from 7pm Sunday.

Food and refreshments are available onsite. No Eskies or BYO are permitted.
