Assault victim Lindsay Ede still fighting for life

THE family of Lindsay Ede remained by his bedside yesterday as he continued to battle in the intensive care unit of the PA Hospital.

Mr Ede, 54, was in a critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery to ease swelling on the brain - the result of an alleged assault at Goodna on Monday afternoon.

His brother, Terry Bishop, said Mr Ede was "still hanging in there" and had a long way to go.

Members of the victim's family spoke in more detail with doctors about the extent of Mr Ede's injuries.

Ariik Mayot, 19, of Redbank Plains, has been charged with grievous bodily harm over the alleged attack on Mr Ede, which occurred near the intersection of Albert St and Storr Cct, Goodna, on Monday afternoon.

A long-term Goodna resident who was passing through the area shortly after the incident managed to capture an image of police apprehending Mayot.

The man, who asked not to be named, said his prayers went out to Mr Ede and his family.

"I have lived in Goodna since 1974 and for this sort of incident to happen is very sad," he said.

"It is not a nice thing to see and hear."

Mayot appeared in court on Tuesday morning, where a bail application was adjourned until June 30.

He was remanded in custody until the case is heard again.
