Firm donates to DV service

A LOCAL solicitor has pledged $5000 of legal services to the Whitsunday Crisis and Counselling Service to assist in domestic violence matters.

Owner of Bogie & Co Solicitors, Bob Bogie said he was aware of the hard work the service put in and he wanted to encourage others to get involved.

"It's a cause that's been getting a lot of media publicity and it's a very worthwhile cause," he said.

"No matter which television program you're on or which paper you read domestic violence is an issue - a big issue."

Also a director of PCYC in Queensland, Mr Bogey wants to increase awareness by taking action and developing programs rather than just talking about it.

"What I'd like to do is see the public become more involved and to then promote some level of assistance or contribution by locals and businesses as well," he said.

Mr Bogey said he would work closely with the service and its CEO, Steve Alexander, to decide how the money would be used.

"Ultimately it will be up to the service how the money is used but it could be towards offering business advice, property advice or any kind of legal advice," he said.
