Five things to do this weekend
WITH another massive weekend planned in the Whitsundays, we've brought you five things to do this weekend.
1. Airlie Beach Running Festival
The 4th annual Running Festival returns to Airlie Beach this weekend with two full days of events. With a variety of races, there is something for everyone this year. Registrations are still open tomorrow but there will be no late registrations on Sunday. Events include on Saturday include the 5km Parkrun and 2km Kids Fun Run. Then on Sunday a big day events will include the Half Marathon, 10km Challenge, 5km Fun Run and 5km Team Challenge. For more information visit www.runairlie.com.au.
2. Airlie Fight Night 5
It's back again. The 5th edition of Airlie Fight Night is sure to be another cracker with a host of local fighters set to appear in a variety of boxing, MMA and Muay Thai fights. There will be 12 fights on the stacked card with a night of entertainment guaranteed. Tickets for the event, held at the Whitsunday Sailing Club, are still available and can be purchased at the door.
3. Romeo and Juliet by the Melbourne City Ballet
Shakespeare's classic tale of love and death will hit Proserpine Entertainment Centre on Saturday night. The ballet will feature Melbourne City Ballet's finest artists in a performance sure to pull at your heartstrings. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 4945 2312.
4. Palm and Tarot Card reading
Want to find out what your palms say about you? Then head to the Proserpine Entertainment Centre today and tomorrow. It's all part of the ESA's 20th Annual Arts and Craft Fair. Palm and tarot card readings will be available for $10 each. Bookings must be made at the door and all proceeds will be donated in full to ESA.
5. Night out on the town
The name might be deceiving but Some Blonde will be hitting the decks at Magnums Hotel tonight. The young DJ is one of the rising stars of Melbourne's nightclub scene and she will be sure to bring her best beats to Airlie. Check her out from 8pm tonight.
