Five years off roads for driver

A REPEAT road offender will not be seen on Queensland roads for the next five years after being caught driving on a court- disqualified licence.

Aaron Jordan Dash faced Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday charged with driving while disqualified and contravening an order in a safe night precinct.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Glen Whittle said Dash was pulled over about 9.25am on Shute Harbour Rd, Cannonvale, for an RBT and was found to be disqualified from driving in New South Wales.

Sgt Whittle said the second offence happened on the night of October 16 when police saw Dash muttering words like "she's got drugs” near the Airlie Beach McDonald's.

He then began following them in the bushes along the foreshore. He demanded to be given a lift home and continued to argue with officers. After being warned to leave the area, he kept following them and was eventually arrested.

Magistrate Simon Young said "your New South Wales driving history is atrocious, to the extent you have been declared a habitual offender”.

He was sentenced to three months imprisonment, wholly suspended for 12 months, and disqualified from driving for five years.
