Free parking at new Abell Pt car park for Christmas break
VISITORS to Abell Point Marina will be able to use the new south village car park free of charge from this Saturday, December 14 until February 1, 2014.
Marina owner Paul Darrouzet said the ticket machines had already arrived but the decision to allow a period of grace was a gesture and a thank you to customers for their patience throughout the ongoing upgrade works.
Mr Darrouzet stressed the car park was for visitors to the marina and not for overnight stays by "bongo vans". He said security would patrol the area.
The south village, or top car park, will open at 7am on Saturday. It comprises 250 car spaces plus bus bays.
Meanwhile the south plaza car park, directly beside the office, will not be completed until mid-February.
Mr Darrouzet said construction would take a temporary break from the end of this week to ensure minimal disruption to customers over the Christmas period.
An exact price schedule for parking after February 1 has yet to be determined but is expected to be in line with current pay and display arrangements.
