Fresh faces ready to kick off school year

WALKING around Cannonvale State School are a few faces some students may not have seen before - 15 to be exact.

This year, the school welcomed a bunch of new teachers from all walks of life, each with a bursting passion for education.

School principal Angie Kelly said the new team were a "fantastic edition to outstanding staff”.

"We did a five day induction where we were able to work with (the new teachers) for five days and they're fantastic,” she said.

"It was great to be able to gel with them before we went back to school.”

Ms Kelly said she had nothing but positive messages for the newcomers.

"I feel like each and every one of the staff is a really beautiful fit for Cannonvale,” she said.

"They're fantastic human beings and clearly passionate educators and that's what's indicative of all the staff in Cannonvale.

"They're very fun, upbeat and very energetic.”

The school body has also grown this year with a total of 763 students enrolled.

As for the year ahead, it's full steam ahead for Cannonvale State School with an abundance of plans already set in the diary.

"We have our brand new building which houses four Prep classes and five Year 1 classes,” Ms Kelly said.

"We've got all the fun same curriculum going on with additional Japanese classes from Prep to Year 6, additional creative arts from Prep to Year 6.

"We've introduced philosophy across the school and perceptual motor programs.”

The school is not short of positivity and Ms Kelly said the response from those who were involved had been nothing but positive.

"The vibes from parents, kids, staff and the school has been electric this year, yet again, and it's really great to be back,” she said.
