From prep right through to Year 12

WHEN construction is completed in 2017, St Catherine's Catholic College will be able to offer an education which includes seamless transitions between pre-school, primary and secondary.

The two campuses effectively provide the St Catherine's community with three dedicated learning precincts - Mercy Campus (prep to Year 3) on Marathon Street, Loyola Campus (Year 4 to 6) and Manresa Campus (Year 7 to 12) both on Renwick Road.

Each site allows for a specific focus on the particular needs of the developmental level of the students.

The development of these three precincts has allowed the Proserpine-based college to retain its school community atmosphere at each campus, while continuing to grow from 350 students to 600 in just three years.

On Mercy Campus, the dedicated early years site, the focus is on providing a nurturing introduction to school life with an emphasis on parental involvement and solid literacy and numeracy foundations.

Loyola Campus emphasises a student's independence, with children urged to take control of their learning through the introduction of the 1-1 device program as well as the Student Representative Council.

Students in these upper primary years are encouraged to use their talents beyond the classroom with visits to the nursing home, literature festivals in Mackay, arts festivals in Townsville and participation in representative sport.

The opportunity for students to utilise specialist teachers and facilities of the secondary precinct is an additional benefit of a prep to Year 12 college.

Secondary principal David Burke said the students experienced a smooth and uninterrupted transition to secondary school.

The Manresa Campus has a variety of focal points, including engagement of students through career pathways, developing a deep personal faith, access to specialist staff and resources and promoting student leadership.
