Fun of the fete at Cannonvale School
STUDENTS, teachers and parents from the Cannonvale State School will be throwing the gates open to the public for the school's annual fete this Saturday, July 26.
From 10am-2pm, the school grounds will be alive with music, entertainment, rides, displays and stalls of all kinds.
Once the fete has been officially opened by Principal Angie Kelly, the stage will be given over to the likes of the school's choir, concert and rock bands, along with Tae Kwon Do and dance displays and even a Cherrie Baby fashion parade.
All the kids' favourite stalls are returning this year, such as the choc throw, frog throw and balloon popping stalls and the ever-popular duck pond blast.
There are plenty of display stands by community organisations such as the Whitsunday PCYC and Logan's Adventure Playground and the fete will finish with the local fire brigade's awesome lolly drop.
Rides are always one of the event's biggest attractions, with tickets available for $7 per ride, or unlimited passes for $27 pre-paid, or $32 on the day.
P and C president Sonia Zadebernyj said the fete was the association's biggest annual fundraiser for the school and she encouraged as many members of the community as possible to come along.
"The school fete is a great opportunity to be part of the Whitsunday community, support state school education and enjoy family activities," she said.
"It's about child-centred family activities, free entertainment and lots of yummy food to eat - fairy floss included, which you can only get at festivals and shows these days."
Ms Zadebernyj said as always, the top priority for money raised would be helping to purchase much needed resources for both inside and outside the classroom.
She said the success of past fetes had only been made possible by the tireless efforts of parents and caregivers, school staff, volunteers, community organisations and local businesses, who generously gave their time, gifts, services, vouchers and products needed for stalls.
