PHOTOS: Decapitation evidence work to delay murder case

A ROCKHAMPTON court this morning heard a brief of evidence in the case of the murder of Syeid Alam would be "outstanding for a good while".

Mohammed Khan is charged with one count each of murder and interfering with a corpse after the victim's body was found in an inlet off the Fitzroy River at Park Avenue on April 16.

It is alleged the victim was decapitated.

Defence lawyer William Prizeman did not enter a bail application for the defendant who did not appear in at a mention in Rockhampton Magistrates Court this morning.

The 34-year-old Berserker man has been in Capricorn Correctional Centre since his arrest on May 17.

Police prosecutor senior constable Shaun Janes said the adjournment was "lengthier than usual".

Khan was remanded in custody and not expected to appear at the next mention on September 21.
