From here to the United States: Georgia's dance journey

IMBIL schoolgirl Georgia Leslie has danced her way to the city of the stars, Los Angeles.

And with luck she could be a star herself.

Georgia spoke to The Gympie Times just before she boarded her international flight this week and told us of her excitement.

The Year 12 student at Cooroy's Noosa District High School says her lifetime interest in dance of all kinds may be about to pay off - at least in terms of fun and excitement.

"It's an international competition called World of Dance and it's all hip hop dancing," she said.

The dancers will perform in teams, with the top three from each nation dancing on stage in Los Angeles.

"Those teams are the qualifiers.

"There are eight in our crew and we're not exactly in LA, but in nearby Pasadena," she said.

"Before I got involved in hip hop dancing I danced in all genres," she said.

"That includes a lot of categories, such as contemporary, jazz ballet, modern dancing, ballet and I even did tap dancing at one stage."

"I'm just really interested in dancing. I just love it."

"I'm really excited."

The big event gets started tomorrow.

"It's the biggest thing so far for me, especially because it's the biggest thing to do with dancing."
