Get ready for the ‘mother of all high pressure systems’

MOST weather sites are predicting a little splash of rain to hit the Northern Rivers on Friday and Saturday, and possibly into Sunday.

But Weatherzone has issued a different kind of warning: The "mother of all high pressure systems" is coming, and soon.

"With weather patterns more reminiscent of spring conditions ... eastern Australia is definitely not feeling like winter is near," Weatherzone explains in a statement on its website.

"A cold front will work its way across southeast Australia over the coming days.

"Temperatures, however, will only dip briefly before what appears to be the mother of all high pressure systems grows to cover almost the whole of the continent by the end of the week.

"Generally, clear skies will accompany the high of all highs, allowing the eastern cities to stay warmer during the day than usual."
