Getting more to our Music fest

THE Airlie Beach Festival of Music is on its way and festival goers are eagerly awaiting their tickets.

But, for some, forking out $245 isn't so easy.

That's why festival organiser Gavin "Butto" Butlin has set up a "pay off system" to give locals the chance to slowly pay off their ticket before the festival arrives.

Starting next week, those who choose to use the system can pay $25 a week for 10 weeks.

Mr Butlin said when he heard some people couldn't afford a ticket, he wanted to help.

"I heard feedback from the community and they said it was too dear but it's the cheapest festival in Australia," he said.

"We have some massive names coming and the locals want to come but they need help buying the tickets."

The Airlie Beach Festival of Music runs from November 3-6 and 74 acts are scheduled to perform including Sandi Thom, Electrik Lemonade and The Potbelleez.

Mr Butlin said anyone could use the system to lock in a spot at the festival.

"We want to sell as many tickets as we can so the more the merrier," he said.

"No one really misses $25 a week but when you want to buy a ticket for $245, it's a big chunk."
