Girl, 15, charged over Qld school bomb threat

A 15-YEAR-OLD girl who allegedly assaulted two staff members at a Queensland school and made bomb threats has been charged by police.

Detectives charged the teenager following investigations into a bomb hoax at an educational facility in Cairns on Monday.

It will be alleged at midday the teenager entered the school grounds and assaulted two staff members. Police will further allege the girl made threats against the school.

The school subsequently activated an evacuation plan before police were able to locate and arrest the girl.

Police were able to determine the threat to be unsubstantiated.

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with one count each of falsely state a bomb was present, computer hacking and misuse, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and three counts of common assault.

The 15-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Police would like to remind the public that making a bomb threat is a very serious offence and those convicted could face up to five years imprisonment.
