Glitz, glamour at Hamo race week
STARDOM and style will combine with superb sailing rivalry on Hamilton Island from August 17-25, with the island's 29th annual race week showcasing the best Australia has to offer in travel, tourism and high-class events.
From Olympic sailors and celebrity chefs to fashion designers and incredible parties, the on water action is complimented by a diverse calendar of land-based events.
Those who favour fashion won't be disappointed as race week favourite Collette Dinnigan returns to launch her highly anticipated 2013 resort collection. Henri Lloyd will also show their 2012 spring/summer collection, modelled by sailors and emceed by Kylie Speer.
Internationally recognised producer of the world's finest quality pearls, Paspaley, will be featured at this year's inaugural 'stranded at qualia' event. A Paspaley boutique and Paspaley pearl discovery sessions will also be available throughout the week.
For food aficionados there's Audi's most recent ambassador Kylie Kwong who will present an exclusive and intimate dinner in the island's newest dining establishment 'coca chu'. Gourmet enthusiasts will be further catered for at the 'Audi Robert Oatley Vineyards Exclusive Dinner' with two of Australia's most talented chefs, Shannon Bennett and Matt Moran. Making his AHIRW debut is patissier Adriano Zumbo, who will host a lavish champagne high tea at qualia's Long Pavilion, emceed by Catriona Rowntree.
The Moët and Chandon Lunch and Moët Ice Imperial bar on the Bommie Deck at Hamilton Island Yacht Club will continue to be AHIRW highlights, along with other event favourites including the Wild Oats Wines Ladies Lunch, Beachside Pool Party, Hamilton Island Golf Clinic, Australian Olympic Sailing Team Tickertape Parade, Audi Final Drive Challenge and Sailor's Forums.
