Grand final date for Brahmans U13s
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Proserpine Whitsunday Junior Rugby League Brahmans' under-13s have booked a grand final berth after downing Moranbah on Saturday morning.
The young bulls produced a convincing 30-0 win over the Miners at the Mackay Junior Rugby League Fields to advance to next month's decider. All Mackay Junior Rugby League grand finals will be played on September 5 but the under-13s won't know who they play until this weekend's round of preliminary finals. In other finals results from the weekend, the club's under-15s prevailed over Wests Tigers 23-10 to advance to Saturday's preliminary final.
The under-15s meet Wanderers to decide who advances to the September 5 grand final. The under-16s weren't so fortunate, losing their final 22-4 to Norths.
The loss means the under-16s now play Souths Sharks for a spot in the grand final.
Elsewhere, the under-9s broke their drought in Mackay with a 32-8 win over Souths Blue. An inspired team effort saw the under-9s prevail in what was the team's penultimate game of the season.
The under-8s also won their game last Saturday, toppling Sarina 36-8. In his last game as coach, Chris Doblo thanked the team for their effort each week and said he was proud of the group's improvement. Impressively, the team has registered a wonderful record in the last two-and-a-half years. This weekend's round of matches will be the last of the year for Brahmans' under-7s to 12s.
