Grandfather admits to molestation

A NINE-year-old girl who was molested by her grandfather wrote a will where she distributed her toys should she end up in heaven.

Her mother found the sheets of paper while she was cleaning her daughter’s room and thought it was a suicide note because it detailed the abuse.

The 67-year-old Sunshine Coast grandfather pleaded guilty in Maroochydore District Court on Monday to indecent treatment of a child under 12, who is a lineal descendant, in a Brisbane suburb in June, 2006.

Crown prosecutor Lily Brisick said the man had been babysitting the girl and her siblings while their parents were at a wedding.

Barrister Kristy Crabb said her client had lost contact with his family after they found out what he had done.

A nine-month jail term will be suspended after the man has served three months.
