SIAN Redgrave has been crowned Foxtel's first Great Australian Bake Off winner.
The 23-year-old took out the title of the country's best amateur baker after besting Mackay-based British ex-pat Jasmin Hartley and Greek pasty specialist Suzy Stefanidis.
The three finalists were asked to reinvent the vanilla slice, produce a perfect cornucopia cake and make their most impressive showstopper.
Sian's tower of profiteroles, or croquembouche, perched atop a sour cream and chocolate cake was tasty enough to beat Jasmin's three-level cake and Suzy's gingerbread house.
Judge Matt Moran was full of praise for the young baker, who is also a painter and fashion designer with a degree in costume design from Perth's WAAPA.
"When I think of Sian I think of three things - flavour, elegance and consistency," he said.
"They are three things you need in baking but also to win."
Sian now plans to travel Italy and will have some of her recipes published in Delicious magazine.
