WHITSUNDAY Tae Kwon Do Oh Do Kwan held its third inter-club tournament on Saturday May 19 with a total of 41 students (22 from Proserpine and 19 from Airlie Beach) competing.

The inter-club tournaments are designed to allow students to put into practice the skills they have learned without the 'full contact' aspect of a regular tournament, while giving them a feel for what it is like to be in a competition environment.

The events were judged by Head Instructor Vicky Gillam - 4th Dan Black Belt, who was assisted on the day by 1st Dan Instructors Jim Hodges and Jarrad Arthur. There were some awesome displays of technical skill in the self-defence, jumping front kick, poomsae and sparring events, especially those from the 'Little Tigers' aged between 4 and 6.

It was also a great opportunity for parents who train with their children to compete and the day was enjoyed by both competitors and spectators alike. For any queries regarding Taekwondo or training times, please contact Vicky on 0416 350 439 or 4947 3467 or at info@whitsundaytkd.com.au.
