Great turnout at tennis tournament

WHILE the weather was unfavourable on Saturday and Sunday, it didn't stop some fantastic tennis being played at the Junior Round Robin series in Cannonvale and Proserpine.

The tournament was a great success with over 80 juniors ranging from six to 16-year-olds taking part at both the Cannonvale and Proserpine tennis courts.

All four courts at Cannonvale were kept busy over the two-day tournament and there were plenty of bright young talents on display.

The new fence work and net posts looked and worked well during all matches and everyone involved had a great time over the weekend.

In junior tennis news weather was a major concern for fixtures on Monday and Thursday afternoon but the young players managed to get out on court and re-discover some form coming back from the school holiday break.

Tuesday morning adult Cardio and Tuesday night social were washed out while Wednesday evening cardio saw our players giving their all.

Thursday night social players also had a week off due to the weather.

Coaching pupils of the week were the Little Champs on Friday afternoon, with all the young guys and girls having heaps of fun with special under cover games.

They all worked well in the space available and enjoyed the change of scenery forced by the heavy rain.
