PROFESSOR Callum Roberts of the University of York in England will be touring key sites along the Great Barrier Reef proposed for port development or expansion.
On the 21st of March (today) he will be visiting the Bowen region to share his insights with the community of the impacts port expansions, such as Abbot Pt, will have on the marine environment. Professor Roberts is a world renown marine biologist whose research focuses on human impacts on marine ecosystems.
He is the author of The Unnatural History of the Sea and Ocean of Life - two of the most important contemporary publications on our oceans.
He is guest speaker at the Abbot Point Action Group's next meeting at the Anglican Church Hall, Bowen at 5pm, Thursday 21st March.
