Gym kids get active at the PCYC

WHAT better way to keep fit and active while having fun than getting involved in gymnastics.

The Whitsunday PCYC in Airlie Beach provides a full gymnastics program four days a week and it's proven to be very popular with the youngsters.

Vicki Thompson is the head coach for gymnastics and said she loved working with kids and found the program fulfilling for both coaches and the children.

"I love seeing the improvements they make, especially if someone's been struggling and trying really hard and finally gets it," she said.

"To see the confidence and amazement they have in themselves is very rewarding."

Ms Thompson said it was important for kids to get involved in organised sports, which got their bodies moving.

On Tuesdays the PCYC runs three, one-hour sessions at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm.

On Wednesdays are two, one-hour sessions at 4pm and 5pm and Fridays from 4-5.30pm. Saturday holds two, one-hour long sessions at 9am and 10am.
