Half-time lead blown by Sea Eagles

AUSSIE RULES: The A-grade Whitsunday Sea Eagles went into Saturday's game looking to get a win in their last home game and were leading the north Mackay Saints at half-time 34-18.

But the Saints picked it up in the second half and the Sea Eagles ran out of legs, with the away side recording a 12.13.85 to 5.7.37 win.

Two of the Sea Eagles young guns Jacob Healey and Michael Maltby starred, while old hands Trevor Ritchie and Jade Derbyshire played well, as did first year player Scott Lee.

The Sea Eagles now have a bye before playing their last against the Magpies in Mackay. The club would like to thank Cabe Ayton for helping out with umpiring, and long time trainer Kevin Kesic for his great work over the last few years.

The under-17s were no match for a very skilful Saints side losing 15.13.103 to 6.4.40.

The team tried hard with a couple players having their best performances including Alex Schultz, Ryder Harvey, Mitchell Healey, Jacob Shortland and Ben Strobel.

The under-14s took on the Saints in what turned out to be a rather scrappy game but once again the Sea Eagles were able to dominate the game up until three quarter time winning 8.7.55 to 1.0.6.

However the game was cut short due to an unfortunate injury to ruckman Joel Henzell who was having an outstanding game. Unfortunately Joel will now miss the rest of the season.

Jayden Clark, Callum Mcmurdo, Lachy Draper, Ethan Boyle and Max Steel had standout games.

The under-12s took on the ladder leading Saints in a tough match. The team played well against their taller opponents but went down by 20.
