Hazing of dingoes on Fraser Island banned following review
HAZING of Fraser island dingoes will be banned from Wednesday and tagging of dingo pups will be restricted but some pups may still be tagged.
The changes are part of recommendations released in a review of the Fraser Island Dingo Management Strategy.
Hazing is defined as using non-lethal methods such as slingshots and clay pellets to discourage dingoes from interacting with humans.
Environment Minister Andrew Powell is in Hervey Bay on Wednesday to announce the recommendations.
He said the government would release a new dingo management strategy in May.
