High tea fundraiser attracts impressive crowd
FASHION, fun and prizes were all the rage at the Salvation Army's High Tea and runway show fundraiser on Sunday .
No seats were left empty with 64 guests attending the event and an impressive total raised for the Red Shield Appeal.
Salvation Army Cannonvale Family Store manager, Denise Norder said a total of $2200 was raised.
"The money will go towards social services including the drug and rehabilitation centre in Townsville and the women's refuge in Mackay," she said.
Five models strutted their stuff and wore garments available at the store.
"The models ranged from ages 14- 50 and they all had lots of fun," Ms Norder said.
"They're very keen to do it again next year."
Ms Norder said guests were pleasantly surprised at the standard of clothing put on show by the models.
"A lot of people didn't realise we had such high quality garments in the store," she said.
With food aplenty and a brightly decorated venue, Ms Norder said the day was a complete success.
"We had a lot of support from local businesses in the way of donations and auction items," she said.
"The bidding went well and everyone had a great time.
"The overall opinion of the day was very positive."
