Hillside Haven’s Debbie Rivers found dead

THE beleaguered former operator of Hillside Haven nursing home in Collinsville, Debbie Rivers, has been found dead, with police citing non-suspicious circumstances.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the 55-year-old director of D&R Community Services was found dead on Thursday, April 7 at an undisclosed location in Cairns.

The spokesman said Ms Rivers was not listed as missing before her death and would not say whether she was found by police, or a member of the public.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

In March, prior to Ms Rivers' death, administrators of Hillside Haven said the nursing home would be closing.

Allegations were also directed at Ms Rivers over an apparent misappropriation of resident trust funds.

Ernst & Young have been acting administrators for Hillside Haven in previous months, after its parent company experienced financial difficulties.
