Hillside nursing home shuts its doors

THE Hillside Haven nursing home in Collinsville closed its doors yesterday.

The nursing home owners ran into financial difficulty earlier this year but an alternative provider could not be found.

Private receivers have closed the centre after the private company that operated it collapsed.

Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry, along with the Federal Minister for Regional Health Sussan Ley met with civic and community leaders about the proposed closure.

Ms Landry said the government had tried to find an alternative provider to operate Hillside Haven and had had discussions with Mackay Base Hospital, however, no solution had been found.

Most of the residents have been relocated to Murroona Gardens, Bowen.
