Hit the dance floor at Boom

HIT the dance floor, have fun and make friends - The Social Mixers' Winter Wonderland Party is set to be a blast.

Whitsunday PCYC community development officer Cassie Holeczy said it was all about promoting social inclusion.

"We just wanted to provide something social and fun that wasn't too structured," she said. "It's just a bit of a party for young people with a disability, or young people who don't socialise that often to get together and mingle."

Organised by Whitsunday PCYC, Quota Whitsunday and The Social Mixers Club, Disability Services area coordinator Mia Bates said their first mixer had been a big success.

"We had about 50 people attend; a lot of clients from disability services and a lot of locals as well," she said.

"There were lots of people on the dance floor making friends."

This time around the theme is winter wonderland, with party-goers encouraged to come dressed up.

"Obviously it's a bit warm, but we will have face painting as well to get people into the spirit," Ms Bates said.

Food is provided.
