Honour the fallen

“I STILL get choked up every time.”

These were the strong sentiments from the Commanding Officer of the Cairns based HMAS Labuan Warren Wood during yesterday’s Remembrance Day service at the Cannonvale Cenotaph.

MC of the service Bill Rose backed up the heartfelt words of the Lieutenant Commander, saying that he gets a bit croaky during the ode.

About 70 people turned up to remember fallen troops during a rare patch of sunshine yesterday morning.

“We obviously have a good rapport with the person upstairs,” Mr Rose said.

LCDR Wood said that it’s nice for all parties to have current serviceman attending Remembrance Day.

“It’s a strong reminder of service,” he said.

Bad weather in Proserpine didn’t stop a tight group of about 60 gathering under shelter to pay their respects.
